Mary Potter Community Centre

In celebration of the rich heritage and story of the Little Company of Mary, we the Sisters, Residents and Staff of the Mary Potter family in Christchurch welcome all who come here in a spirit of love, hospitality, joy and compassion.

We seek to provide a warm, caring, safe and homely environment where the individuality of each person is valued and respected. In the spirit of our Founder Mary Potter we seek to make her words our own:

“There is no greater power in life than love.”

Following the sale of the Mary Potter Hospital in 2004 and after discerning the need in the area the Sisters made the decision to focus on support for seniors living in Christchurch. The Mary Potter Community Centre was opened in 2007 by then MP for Christchurch East Leanne Dalziell.
The building comprises the Little Company of Mary offices and archives room. A multi purpose hall, foyer space, kitchen, and toilets this area is available for hire for group meetings and other functions. Off street parking is available at all times.

The Centre provides a venue where the Residents of Mary Potter Courts and other seniors can enjoy time together and engage in table games, exercises, socialising, crafts, movies, monthly talks are given by a visiting speaker on a topic of interest. The programme for activities takes place twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. All are welcome.
